WORK to repair the roof of Rhyl's SC2 waterpark will commence within weeks.

SC2’s waterpark has been closed since New Year, due to significant storm damage to the roof.

Since then, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL) has been working closely with loss adjusters and specialist surveyors to agree the repairs.

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of DLL, said scaffolding will soon be erected to begin the repair work.

Thanking everyone for their support and patience, he said: "Unfortunately, due to the scale of the works, this has been a very lengthy process with the insurance company who had to agree to the extent of the works; and we had to take into account all the other construction works already taking place around SC2 which limited access; but we are delighted to announce that the work to repair the roof will begin within the next few weeks, with scaffolding being erected around the building very soon.

"Once complete, we expect this work to future proof the attraction from similar damage, and deliver a more resilient facility for everyone."

Mr Groves added: "Although we are pleased that the remedial work is now moving forward, we still want to stress how devastated everyone at DLL has been to spend a summer without our much loved waterpark, when it should have been at its busiest. As a company, the closure has naturally been upsetting for us, but we also appreciate how the disappointment has affected our staff, our customers and the wider community in Rhyl.

"As you can imagine, we’re very excited to be able to start looking forward, and can promise everyone that SC2 will be back next year, better and stronger than ever, and with a fantastic range of free and low cost community offers in the pipeline to welcome you all back!"
