A WOMAN who has worked at the same school in Rhyl for the last 33 years is set to retire.
Christine Maitland-Price, the site manager at Ysgol Emmanuel, is one of the longest-serving members of staff at the school and will retire on August 31.
Mrs Maitland-Price was once a pupil at the school, went on to become the school’s lollipop lady before joining the staff as a learning support assistant.
She soon became the school caretaker, with the school buildings and grounds maintained to a “very high standard” under her care.
She was later promoted to site manager and took over the health and safety functions for the school in partnership with the headteacher.
This role included conducting risk assessments, organising first aid, liaising with contractors and the Denbighshire County Council building services team, and carrying out the general maintenance of the school buildings and grounds.

Having been a staff governor for many years, she will continue in the role and remain the Chair of the Friends of Ysgol Emmanuel (FOYE), the school’s PTA organisation.
A spokesperson for Ysgol Emmanuel said: “At the end of the summer term pupils, families and staff at Ysgol Emmanuel said a sad goodbye to one of their longest serving members of staff.
“Over the last three decades, Mrs Maitland-Price has been a familiar face to pupils from many generations and is known by most people in the local community.
During this time, Mrs Maitland-Price has gone over and above for families in the school community including organising food parcels, collecting, washing and giving out second hand uniform and general support when families have needed it.
“Over the years, she has organised fundraising events for the school and has helped to raise funds which are then spent on equipment for pupils.
“As a proud lifetime resident of Rhyl, Mrs Maitland-Price has been a champion for the school and the local area and will be sorely missed by staff, pupils and families.
“She will now enjoy her retirement spending more time with her family while continuing to volunteer at the school.”
