A POPULAR eatery in Rhuddlan will cease trading this week, with new owners to move into the premises in the "next couple of weeks”.

Green Island Bistro, on High Street, will close on Saturday, 31 August as owner Sara Turner concentrates on her Llandudno business, Pip & Oat, which opened in February.

A vegan eatery, Green Island Bistro opened during the Covid-19 pandemic, and went on to win several awards, including Café / Bistro of the Year Overall Winner at the Food Awards Wales in Cardiff earlier this year.

The restaurant also defended its title of best café/bistro in North Wales, scooping the prize for the second consecutive year.

But last month, owner Sara said she had found juggling the two businesses “more time consuming than she imagined”, and wished to concentrate her efforts on Pip & Oat.

The business has now been sold, with Sara to retain the Green Island name and brand.

However, she did tease that the new owners would move into the premises in the "next couple of weeks".

In a notice to customers on social media, Sara said: “I would like to thank all my wonderful customers and suppliers for all your support over the last four years, it has been a fantastic experience.

“The new owners will be moving into the premises in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for updates on their new venture.

“I will be retaining the Green Island name and brand and hope to do things with this in the near future, so keep following our socials for updates.

“I will also be spending more time at our venue in Llandudno so please continue to support us there.”
