THOUSANDS of people went along to the Prestatyn Classic Car Show yesterday (August 26), as the event drew bigger crowds than ever.

The exhibition started in 2000, and despite being cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, survived thanks to the hard work of founder Tim Williams and his dedicated volunteer staff.

Huge crowds went along to yesterday's show, with more than 400 vehicles, a record number, lining the High Street, nearby car park and area by the Christ Church, with both residents and car enthusiasts getting a glimpse of motoring from the past.

Among the many highlights was a Morris Minor collection courtesy of the North Wales branch of the Morris Minor Owners Club, a gold Pontiac Firebird, an impressive navy Ford Mustang, and a Chevrolet Corvette C3 Stingray.

Older Jaguars, Ferraris, and Rolls-Royce numbers were on display, as well as vintage motorbikes including Harley Davidson, Triumph, Honda and Bantam motorbikes.

Vintage 1920s and 1930s cars adorned the town, with a 1935 Lanchester Ten and a 1929 Vauxhall 20-60 Grosvenor among a slew of cars from the first half of the 20th century.

The organisers said the turn out was "fantastic", with the vintage vehicles continuing to be a hit with locals and the increasing number of people who travel from across the country to see the show.
