A FAMILY member of a man missing for eight weeks has made a desperate plea for information.
Anthony Roberts, from Chirk, was last seen on July 5 in the Chirk area. Personal items belonging to the 62-year-old were found near Chirk canal on July 7, but since then there has been no trace of him. There have been numerous police appeals over the last month regarding Anthony's disappearance.
His niece, Ashley Blackwell, is now appealing for information as to his whereabouts.
She said: "We are beside ourselves with worry. We just want you home, Anthony. Please get in touch if you have seen him or have any information.
"It’s been eight weeks now and we just want you home. We are so, so worried as this point. Among his belongings that were found was very important medication which he can't do without."
Ashley said she is "living in hope" that Anthony is safe and well.
She added: "Anthony is a lovely man, a gentle giant. He would do anything for anyone. But he’s very vulnerable. We miss him so much. We don't sleep, we’re out every day searching for him."
He was last seen walking along a lane towards the Marina in the direction of Whitehurst between 4.30pm and 4.45pm on July 5.
He was wearing a white T-shirt with a dark coloured jacket, dark trousers and carrying a carrier bag.
Ashley added: "We've searched from Wrexham to Chirk, all the way to Llangollen. Anthony doesn't drive, so we’ve walked trails, roads, fields, rivers. canals and train tracks. I've checked places people won’t venture. We’ve even had a drone out."
Anyone with information is urged to contact North Wales Police via its website, or by calling 101, using reference 47761.
