A TEENAGER who said she grew up with “no confidence” in care has opened a salon in Rhyl.
Tylishia Anderson, 19, from Abergele, welcomed customers to Glam Girls Academy, at 4b Bedford Street, for the first time on Saturday (August 17).
She started her business at age 17, renting space in other properties for the last two years, but wanted her own premises as she felt she was “always my own boss”.

Opening day was celebrated with drinks, cakes, and goody bags – the salon will now be open from 10am to 8pm, seven days a week.
Tylishia said: “I do all things lashes, brows, full body waxing, massage therapy, nails and hair.
“Once my client base got big enough, I ended up managing to open my own shop. I’m still quite nervous, but I know it’s something I’ve been working towards for two years.
“I had about 25 people in on Saturday, so it was really good to see that many people turn up.
“I grew up in care, so for a years, this was something I never thought I would do.”
Tylishia, who previously worked as a chef, is also up for three prizes at the Brow Awards in October, and plans to start holding one-to-one training classes at her salon in the future.
She has “always wanted to help people,” she added.
“I was in quite a few foster or residential homes as a child, but I never knew who I was.
“I ended up finding my feet when I went into independent living, and that’s how I got the confidence to get into work, so it all started from there.
“I just had no confidence growing up in care - there was never a goal. I ended up finding a goal when I was in independent living.
“This is never something I thought I could accomplish.”
