A MENTAL health nurse from the Clwyd area has been given a conditions of practice order after his suspension was lifted.

Chukwubuikem Obi, a registered mental health nurse, was handed an interim conditions of practice order.

His case was heard by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) investigating committee at a hearing on August 12.

The interim order will be reviewed by the panel before the end of the next six months and every six months thereafter.

In a report on the hearing, the NMC said it was "yet to decide whether there is a case to answer" in relation to the "allegations" made against Mr Obi.

The next stage of his disciplinary process will be confirmed at a later date.

Mr Obi’s interim order, which the panel said was “proportionate and appropriate”, may be revoked or amended, or be replaced with an interim suspension order.

The interim practice order requires Mr Obi to limit his employment to one agency, meet with his line manager/mentor/supervisor on a fortnightly basis to discuss his practice, and keep the NMC informed on his progress.

The NMC’s report on the hearing stated: "The panel decided to replace the current interim suspension order with an interim conditions of practice order.

"Unless your case has already been concluded, this interim order must be reviewed before the end of the next six months and every six months thereafter.

"Additionally, you or the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) may ask for the interim order to be reviewed if any new evidence becomes available that may be relevant to the interim order.

"At any review a panel may revoke the interim order or any condition of it, it may confirm the interim order, or vary any condition of it, or it may replace the interim conditions of practice order with an interim suspension order.

"The NMC Case Examiners are yet to decide whether there is a case to answer in relation to the allegations made against you.

"The NMC will write to you when the case is ready for the next stage of the fitness to practise process."
