SEVERAL COMPLAINTS have been made about a vape store in Rhuddlan, in relations to the signage at the premises.

In July, Rhuddlan town councillor, and former Mayor, Mike Kermode, said "several people" had complained to him about the store, located on the High Street.

This was discussed at a town council meeting on July 11, with signage at the front of the premises which "may require the express consent of the County Council under the Advertisement Regulations", Mr Kermode said.

He said: "Several people have complained to me about the Vape Shop and have asked me what the Town Council’s views are.

"It is really a matter for Denbighshire County Council (DCC).

"We have had information from DCC that basically says the shop is an authorised A1 retail premises and the retail sale of vapes and vape equipment is not a change of use.

"DCC says that planning permission would not be required for the use of the Vape Shop.

"The signage, however, which appears to have been placed on the frontage of the premises may require the express consent of the County Council under the Advertisement Regulations."

A Rhuddlan Town Council spokesperson said: "It was a normal monthly full council meeting.

"Complaints had been received regarding the signage on the new Vape Shop in the High Street.

"Outcome was to let Denbighshire County Council enact their internal planning and enforcement protocol."

Denbighshire County Council was approached for comment - it is not understood whether the local authority is probing the situation.
