THE POPULAR Prestatyn Classic Car Show returns to the town next month, with entries already “flooding in”.

The annual exhibition started in 2000, and survived post-Covid-19 pandemic thanks to the hard work of founder Tim Williams and his dedicated volunteer staff.

More than 400 vehicles lined the High Street and car park area of Christ Church last year, with even more planned for next month’s edition.

The 2024 event, on August 26, will see a new class of cars be judged, classic Mini’s, as well as a new sponsor for the trophy - Debbie Twigdon-Williams, whose father John owned garages in St Asaph and Llandudno.

The Twigdon family were well-known garage owners and motorsport competitors, John even competing in major international events such as the Monte Carlo, Tulip and RAC Rallies.

He sadly passed away in July 2023, and they feel a trophy in his name would be a fitting tribute in remembrance of a “fantastic father".

A vintage Crosville bus will be providing free trips throughout the day, with live music across the town for extra entertainment.

According to organiser Tim Williams, one car enthusiast is making the 600-mile round trip from Southend to the show, raising money for a cancer charity in the process.

The Beaches Hotel are sponsoring a Classic Car Run the day before the show, with 100 cars taking part and finishing outside the Beaches Hotel at 2.30pm.

“Things are definitely hotting up this end with preparations for the show,” Mr Williams told the Journal.

“I am pleased that entries are flooding in and we are still expanding our show to fill every available space in both the town centre and upper High Street.

“We have a large number of classic car clubs entered again this year with many coming from outside our area.”
