A DAY nursery and after school club in Rhyl has said it has been encountering issues with “groups of high school children breaking into the abandoned care home next door”.

Summerhouse Out of School and Holiday Club, based on Dyserth Road, said it felt it had “no other option but to come onto Facebook” to raise the issue.

Police have been contacted already regarding the matter, which Summerhouse said it becoming “increasingly frequent” and is putting “children, parents and staff at risk”.

A statement read: “This is due to the continuous broken glass being left down the alleyway and on the pavement, objects being thrown, and the language being used, which has given our staff no choice at times but to take the children inside.

“This is not fair. After numerous reports to our local police, we appreciate there is only so much they can do.

“Parents, please check where your teenagers are.

“There is a time and place for groups to be meeting to ‘have fun’. An abandoned building next door to a children’s nursery is not one of them.

“Our children, parents’ and teams’ safety is our number one priority, and will continue to monitor this situation.”
