PRESTATYN Carnival is to make a return to the town this weekend.
Held on Saturday (July 20), the carnival will be based on Bastion Road Field (open from 11am), while the festivities will also involve a parade, starting in the town centre at 12pm.
First held in 1921, the carnival provides a colourful spectacle as it winds its way down Prestatyn’s High Street and through the town centre to the carnival field on Bastion Road.
The parade travels down High Street, turning left into Bridge Road, then making its way over the railway bridge, before turning into Bastion Road.

A competition will also take place for the parade’s best entry, with former Prestatyn and Meliden mayor, Cllr Bob Murray, having decided that this year’s theme will be “the magic of musicals”.
The winner will receive a £250 prize, while the runner-up will be handed £100.
There are also competitions for best fancy dress, business, and non-profit group entries in the parade.
The children who will lead the procession have each been chosen as individual members of the Prestatyn Carnival Royal Family.
To help with the cost of living crisis, Prestatyn Carnival Association has made a contribution to the cost of the dresses/outfits.
Meanwhile, The carnival field is adjacent to Bastion Road and Beach Road East, near the Central Beach Club and the Nova Centre.
Entry to the field is free of charge to all, while on-site parking is available for £1 per vehicle.
Free designated parking space is available for all entertainers and stall holders.
The carnival is supported by several arenas offering a range of events, competitions and modern and traditional entertainment.
This will include a refreshment tent, a craft tent, charity and retail stalls, and a large fun fair.
Bookings for stallholders for this year's event have now closed, with traders set to include food vendors, retail stalls, community groups and charities, and Welsh artisans.
More than 3,000 visitors are expected to attend this year’s carnival, which is sponsored by Prestatyn Town Council.
