A NORTH Wales-born former footballer offered a brilliant response to a stat about himself and France star Kylian Mbappe.
In his prime, Neil Taylor was a star for Swansea City and the Wales national football team.
The full-back, who was born in St Asaph and raised in Ruthin, began his professional career at Wrexham AFC and also played for Aston Villa and Middlesbrough before retiring in 2022.
Arguably, his greatest feat though was scoring what was his one and only goal in 43 caps for Wales during the memorable 3-0 win over Russia at Euro 2016 in France.
That summer, Wales reached the semi-final of the major tournament, famously beating Belgium to do so, in what is considered the greatest Cymru footballing feat of all time.
Taylor played a key role in that epic journey - and one X (formerly Twitter) user has been quick to point out that the former defender has one of the world's best players trumped in terms of European Championship goals.
Kylian Mbappe, who recently moved from PSG to Real Madrid, is considered to be one of the best goal-scorers in world football right now.
However, he has only ever scored once in eight Euro appearances for his national team of France so far - that being a penalty against Poland in a 1-1 draw just a few weeks back.
That, as X user @Podcastpeldroed pointed out, means Taylor has more goals from open play at Euros tournaments than the Frenchman does to date.
Responding to that Tweet, Taylor cheekily said: "I hate comparisons in football, it's not fair, two different players in our own right! Both clearly world class let's just leave it at that, leaves me thinking I should have asked for more money though ...."

It's worth pointing out however that, at 25 years old, Mbappe still has sometime to beat Taylor just yet!
Taylor, now 35 years old, has been club president of his hometown side Ruthin Town Football Club since 2016.
A former Ysgol Brynhyfryd pupil, he could have also gone on to represent India in football through his mother's side of the family.
He is now assistant coach with the Wales under 21's side, as well as being manager of UAE First Division side Gulf United, who are based in Dubai.
