RHYL Carnival made its return to the centre of the town in style despite adverse weather earlier on Saturday (July 6).

The carnival, which returned for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic last year, was organised by Rhyl May Day Association.

It included a parade, which started at the small car park between the Miniature Railway and the Blue Bridge on Wellington Road, and which set off at 12pm.

Making its way through the town, it continued along West Parade and ultimately to Rhyl Events Arena, where the annual family fun day was held.

Stalls based at the events arena included food and charity shops, bric-a-brac, tombolas, arts and crafts workshops, and youth organisations.

The much-loved community event has been running for more than 125 years.

A statement from Rhyl Carnival read: “Thank you everyone who had come out and supported us!

“Thank you to the stallholders that did brave the weather and supported us.

“Thank you to all our beautiful Rhyl queens and visiting queens from all along the north Wales cost, up to Amlwch, Caernarfon and Prestatyn.

“And of course, our wonderful volunteers who helped us close the roads and make sure everyone taking part in the parade remained safe.

“Without you, we would not have been able to complete the parade route.

“We have read some feed back on some posts on Facebook and have taken it on board.”

Elsewhere in Denbighshire, Prestatyn will hold its own carnival later this month, on Saturday, July 20.
