A CLOSURE order has been issued on a property in Rhyl where “cuckooing” is believed to have taken place.
Cuckooing is the name given to the process where County Lines gangs exploit vulnerable people by using their home as a base for dealing drugs.
Earlier this week, police officers served a 48-hour closure notice on such a property in Ffynnongroew Road in Rhyl.

This morning (July 3), officers successfully applied to magistrates for a three-month closure order, meaning that access is prohibited to the property to anyone except the occupant for that time period.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “We actively identify and look to safeguard people who are vulnerable to cuckooing.
“When the police become aware about this type of situation, one option is to issue a ’closure order’ on the property.
“It is a criminal offence to enter or attempt to take possession of premises subjected to a closure order.
“A heavy fine or even imprisonment of up to 51 weeks is possible if convicted of breaching a closure notice.”
