AN AWARD-WINNING restaurant in Rhuddlan has gone on the market, with the owner wishing to concentrate on their other business in Llandudno.

Green Island Bistro, on the high street, was opened by Sara Turner during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since then, it has won several awards, including Café / Bistro of the Year Overall Winner at the Food Awards Wales in Cardiff earlier this year.

The restaurant also defended its title of best café/bistro in North Wales, scooping the prize for the second consecutive year.

The business’ success lead to Ms Turner opening a café in Llandudno in February, Pip & Oat.

But running two businesses has “taken a toll” on Ms Turner, who said she “simply can’t carry on this way long term”.

She added that she had achieved “so much” in Rhuddlan, including winning awards she “never thought possible” – but that her attention would turn to Llandudno.

“Since opening Pip & Oat in February, I’m finding it more time consuming than I imagined,” Sara told the Journal.

“Working seven days a week ensuring both businesses are running as they should is taking a toll on me and I simply can't carry on this way long term.

“I have achieved so much with Green Island Bistro, I’ve won awards that I never thought possible and I feel it's time for me to concentrate all my efforts on my new cafe in Llandudno.

“I am really hoping to find someone in the vegan community to take on the business in Rhuddlan and continues to run it as a vegan eatery.

“I have already had quite a few interested parties so I am feeling hopeful.”

The business will continue to operate as normal until a suitable buyer is found.
