A JOB as a refuse collector in Denbighshire have been advertised online as the county deals with a backlog of missed collections.
Advertised by St Asaph-based Clwyd Recruitment Solutions (CRS), the job is described as “stable and rewarding”, with a “dedicated and reliable individual” being sought for the role.
Last week, Denbighshire County Council shared a vacancy for its waste and recycling operations manager.
On June 3, the council introduced changes to recycling and waste collections, including new containers and weekly collections for recyclable materials, and the scrapping of the blue wheelie bin.
Since then, some residents have been required to separate their “dry” recycling using a new three-tier “Trolibocs”.
But the council has so far issued multiple apologies for residents across the county not having their bins collected on time.
The refuse collector job advert on CRS’ website states: “As a refuse collector, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and health of our community.
“Join us in keeping Denbighshire clean and safe.”
Its working hours would be 1-6pm from Monday to Friday, and 7am-6pm on Saturdays, while its wage would be £11.79 per hour.
Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is an advantage but not required, while its key responsibilities include ensuring “all refuse is collected in a timely and efficient manner”.
Those who are interested in applying for the role can do so by visiting CRS’ website.
Meanwhile, Denbighshire County Council will hold a “special meeting” on July 8 regarding the new system.
At a council cabinet meeting on June 25, councillors were told that this will be with a view to a scrutiny inquiry starting regarding the new system.
Council leader, Cllr Jason McLellan, has promised a “very, very deep dive” into the new system at the July 8 meeting, which he said had to take place after the UK general election on July 4.
