A COUPLE of people from Prestatyn who work at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd have raised about £3,000 for Alzheimer's Society after trekking to Everest Base Camp together.
Paul Clayton and Molly Dunbobbin, who are both operating department practitioners in theatres at the Bodelwyddan hospital, took on the entirely self-funded walk in April and May.
They flew out to Nepal on April 19, before walking for three to four weeks to Everest Base Camp, supported by a team of guides and fellow trekkers.
Everest Base Camp is 17,598ft above sea level, which is almost six times the height of Eryri.

Both Paul and Molly have had family members affected by Alzheimer's, and so their chosen charity is one close to both of their hearts.
Molly said: “We’ve both lost people to Alzheimer’s, we so just wanted to raise money to help them.
“I’d always wanted to go to Everest Base Camp, and we both loved it. We both do a lot of climbing here in North Wales, but this was really tough.
“I felt ill for three days because of the altitude, and paul suffered quite badly with headaches, but we still got there.
“We felt really rough when we got there, but on top of the world – literally!”
The online fundraiser page set up for Molly and Paul’s challenge is still accepting donations - www.justgiving.com/page/molly-dunbobbin-1703263738327.
Sian Lord, a colleague of theirs at Glan Clwyd, added: “The theatre staff at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd would like to hugely congratulate two of our operating department practitioners on their amazing conquest to Everest Base Camp.
“Paul and Molly trained hard to achieve this, raising money for Alzheimer’s Society, and we are so proud of them both.”
