DENBIGHSHIRE County Council has sent out additional crews in smaller vehicles as it endeavours to catch up with a “backlog” of missed recycling collections.
On June 3, the council introduced changes to recycling and waste collections, including new containers and weekly collections for recyclable materials, and the scrapping of the blue wheelie bin.
Since then, some residents have been required to separate their “dry” recycling using a new three-tier “Trolibocs”.
But the council has so far issued multiple apologies for residents across the county not having their bins collected on time.
This morning (June 27), the council has said extra crews are being sent out, but the vehicles being used do not have the split compartments to separate the recycling.
A council statement read: “In order to help clear the backlog caused by recent missed recycling collections, as a temporary measure, we have extra crews out in smaller vehicles collecting the recycling in some areas.
“As these vehicles do not have the split compartments to separate the recycling at source, we will be transporting the dry recycling together.
“Every effort will be made to keep it separate, but please be assured that any mixed recycling will be sent for separation and recycling.
“We envisage that this will only be for a short period of time whilst the new system is being implemented.
“We kindly ask residents to continue to separate your dry recycling and present it in your Trolibocs or reusable bags.
“If you have experienced a missed collection, you may present additional recycling in a bag or box on the side.”
