NORTH Wales drag superstar The Vivienne has landed another dream role.
The Vivienne joins the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as the Childcatcher from October 1 to December 29.
It is a brand-new production of the much-loved family favourite based on Ian Fleming’s timeless story for children that was later made into the famous 1968 film.
The Vivienne said on Instagram: "LOLLIPOPS! All free today!!! It is with such joy that I can announce I will be joining the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang The Musical! Playing the ICONIC Child Catcher!!!!
"See you in a city near you from October 1st!"
Fellow drag artists have congratulated the performer, real name James Williams, who grew up in North Wales and attended Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay.
Pandora Boxx said: "How amazing!! I love this movie and only seen a little bit of the live show but it looks amazing! And what a devilishly fun role!!"
Michael Marouli posted: "YEEEEESSSSS!!! So proud of you sister!!! Love you loads."
The show will also star Adam Garcia (Wicked, Kiss Me Kate, Coyote Ugly) as Caractacus Potts.
It directed by Thom Southerland (Titanic, Parade), choreographed by Karen Bruce (BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, The Bodyguard) and designed by Morgan Large (Newsies, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat).
The musical is bursting with unforgettable songs by the Sherman Brothers including Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, Truly Scrumptious, and the Academy Award-nominated title song, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Speaking to us earlier this year, the performer said it was a part they would love to get their teeth into.
The Vivienne said: "I'd love to play some male characters as well. The Child Catcher is another iconic villain that has scared children to death."
"Yes, I think so. Going on completely stripped back would be good."
It follows the performer's acclaimed portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz tour that came to Venue Cymru in Llandudno earlier this year.
The Vivienne, the first winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, will reprise the role as The Wicked Witch of the West in Gillian Lynne Theatre's summer production of The Wizard of Oz.
Known for her comedic acting and singing, she was a finalist in Dancing on Ice 2023.
The Vivienne's film repertoire includes Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie and she has also appeared in Emmerdale during the soap's Pride episodes.
The Vivienne also graced the seventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars - but has said they are unlikely to return to the franchise.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang comes to Venue Cymru from August 13 to 17.
The Vivienne shares the role of The Child Catcher with Elaine C Smith and Charlie Brooks.
Charlie Brooks will play the role for the Llandudno dates.
