A NEW pharmacy has enjoyed a successful opening in Towyn this week.

Towyn Pharmacy, located on Towyn Road, welcomed customers for the first time on Monday, June 24.

It offers all NHS and some private services, independent prescribing for common acute conditions, opportunities for independent contractors to rent any one of its three consultation rooms, and a competitive retail selection.

Its owner, Naeem Anjam, from Colwyn Bay, has also run Moelwyn Pharmacy in Blaenau Ffestiniog for roughly the last five years, and hopes the pharmacy will help to “rejuvenate” Towyn.

He said: “It’s gone really well so far. The public and the town have really been very accepting.

“It sounds like everybody’s been wanting a pharmacy to come here for quite some time, so a lot of people seem very pleased and happy about it.

“We’ve had a lot of patients already sign up with us now to use our services. We’ve explained about what we do and they seem really chuffed that we’re here, so it’s ‘so far so good’.”

Towyn Pharmacy is open from 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-12pm on Saturdays, while it will be closed on Sundays.

Located across the road from where Lloyds Pharmacy was based in Towyn, the business currently employs one pharmacist (Naeem) and two dispensing assistants.

Naeem added that he plans to grow his staff numbers as the business hopefully expands, though.

He said: “Our shelves are a little bit bare at the minute, but they’re getting busier, and the teething problems we had with supplies are getting better.

“So, give it a week, and we should hopefully have a full shop, and give it a month, and we’ll be booming.

“It’s been very positive. I’m really happy with how things have gone; the most important thing is knowing that people are happy that we’re here.”
