A NEW temporary postmaster has been put in place at a Post Office branch in Rhyl which has encountered difficulties in sticking to its advertised opening times.

The branch, which opened last year at 11 Bodfor Street, has been experiencing “staffing issues,” the Post Office said in April.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, a new temporary postmaster has taken over at Rhyl Post Office.

“We can confirm that it continues to remain open long hours, seven days a week, providing local people and businesses with access to essential Post Office services.”

‘Staffing issues’ cause Rhyl post office to be closed during opening hours

When the Post Office moved the High Street branch to Bodfor Street last year, it said there would be 81 hours of services a week – 35 more than previously.

Previously, a resident had told the Journal: “Since it opened, it has been inconsistent with opening, and sometimes doesn’t open at all.”

The resident added that a previous complaint she lodged with the Post Office in February led to a response that there were “teething issues”.

But, she said, she was told that “these had all been sorted out and everything should be fine, but that postmasters set their own hours”.
