A BLIND man and his wife have converted two static caravans in Rhyl and Prestatyn into accessible holiday homes for the visually impaired.
Nigel Garry started North Wales Accessible Holidays for Blind and Visually Impaired in 2017 with his wife, Karen, after noticing a decline in accessible holiday homes in the region.
He has been blind since the age of 19, and wanted to ensure nobody misses out on a family holiday due to unmet additional needs.

Reliant solely on donations and volunteers, both homes include tactile ramp access, a talking microwave, book machine and clock, and many more amenities to make it as safe and stress-free as possible.
Nigel’s stays are heavily subsidised, and sometimes even free, as he says that “all we want to do is put smiles on people’s faces”.
Already, Nigel’s caravans have given children and adults opportunities that they never thought possible.
A parent of visually impaired brothers, Oliver and Harry, said: “It’s small charities like this that have helped us every day.
“If you could all take one minute to share North Wales Accessible Holidays for Blind and Visually Impaired, it would really help this small charity continue to help families like ours.”
You can support small charities for free by using the easyfundraising platform. Easyfundraising has given Nigel’s caravans the platform to raise hundreds of pounds so far and has the potential to gain so much more.
James Moir is chief executive of easyfundraising, a platform which enables people to support small charities like Nigel’s for free.
He said: “We’re delighted to be able to support almost 200,000 good causes across the UK, and Nigel’s Caravans is just one fantastic example of the work that so many of the small charities raising with us, do every single day.
“With over 8,000 partner brands to shop with, it has never been easier to secure free donations to causes like Nigel’s when making a purchase, whether this is a weekly food shop, upcoming holiday or everyday spending.”
