The North Wales Freemasons have made a huge donation to a charity which helps families impacted by childhood cancers.

The Freemasons recently donated £4,000 to The Joshua Tree after Rich Driffield, the CEO delivered a presentation to the members.

Mr Driffield explained the work of The Joshua Tree, which involves providing support programmes aimed at improving emotional wellbeing and mental health for families affected by childhood cancer.

He said: "I first met members of North Wales Freemasons in August 2022, when they visited to present a cheque for £5,000."

The CEO also added: "To receive a further £4,000 donation shows their generosity and on behalf of everyone at The Joshua Tree, I would like to sincerely thank the members for their kind support.

"This will make a positive difference to families who are affected by childhood cancers."

Phil James, chairman of North Wales Freemasons Charity (NWFC) explained: "Today’s donation of £4,000 was a combination of £500 from Members of Cambria Meridian; £500 from NWFC and £3,000 from Members of the Red Cross of Constantine.

"We are proud to support The Joshua Tree and wish Rich and his colleagues well for the future as they provide vital support to those in need in our community."

Allan Powell, a past intendant-general for North Wales in the Red Cross Order, said: "Members of the Red Cross of Constantine contribute to the Grand Sovereign’s Care for Children Fund, which makes donations to Charities whose objective is the support of children.

"A donation of £3,000 was approved by the Grand Sovereign of the Red Cross Order, and I was very pleased to present a cheque to support The Joshua Tree."

Freemasonry is among the largest charitable givers in the country, having contributed more than £51.7m to deserving causes in 2023 alone.
