A WOMAN who was made redundant by a now-closed Rhyl nursery has been awarded more than £500 at an employment tribunal.
Elizabeth Kearsley-Green, formerly manager of Hannah’s House Day Nursery on Vale Road, was found to be entitled to an additional redundancy payment of £504.60 at a hearing before employment judge Rhian Brace on June 3.
After Mrs Kearsley-Green lodged her claim against Hannah’s House, the nursery failed to present a valid response to it before a set deadline.

Hannah’s House closed last August, and its Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) registration was removed a month later.
In July 2023, a CIW inspection report described the nursery as "poorly run", and also noted "bored children" and safeguarding issues.
CIW inspectors stated in their report last year that they needed to prompt staff to wipe children’s noses, while drinking water was not made accessible to children from the Flying Start and toddler room.
The nursery was handed a “poor” rating for wellbeing, care and development, and leadership and management, and was rated “adequate” for its environment.
