KAREN Farrell-Thornley, the High Sheriff of Clwyd, visited the North Wales Women’s Centre on Water Street in Rhyl today (June 20) to meet with staff at the centre.

Thanks to funds obtained through the High Sheriff, and the support of Select Domestic Appliance Sales in Rhyl, the centre was able to purchase two tumble dryers to provide a small washing facility for some of their service users.

Skeffington Properties also donated a washing machine, which will give the females attending the centre a safe space and facility to carry out chores.

PC Simon Keeting, a Denbighshire partnership officer with North Wales Police, said: “The centre works with ladies from our local area to help support and enable them to develop aspirations and build on their assets, so that they’re better placed to take control of their lives and overcome adversity and achieve their potential.”

The centre offers a number of courses to support females and can be contacted on 01745 339 331, or via their website.
