A COFFEE and health shop in Abergele has confirmed its closure after a year of business.
The Coffee Cottage and Health Shop, based on Market Street, revealed the news on Saturday (June 15).
In a statement, its owner said that “rising costs” of running the business made it no longer “financially viable”, and so the “very difficult decision” to close it has been made.
For the last month, the shop has been closed.

The shop’s statement read: “This has not come easy by any means, but I rely heavily on the footfall of the town, and there is a lot of competition on the purchasing of coffee, with several instant coffee machines scattered around.
“I understand completely, as it's convenient to pop into a shop and just press a button.
“Also, due to the rising costs of general produce and running costs, it just isn't financially viable to stay open.
“I am hoping to continue with some of the things I retail, such as the eco-friendly and organic products, as I feel that it is something that Abergele needs and obviously helps the local environment by going green.
“However, I will look to do this from a different location and will update in due course.
“Thank you to everyone that has supported me in the shop in the last 12 months. I have really, really enjoyed it; at the end of the day, I gave it a go.”
