EXPERTS at Wrexham University are holding a menopause workshop in Prestatyn this week in a bid to educate and empower those navigating menopause.
Taking place on Friday, June 21, between 12.30pm – 4pm, the workshop will feature a number of practical sessions on mindfulness, yoga and more.
Sessions running throughout the afternoon, which are being delivered by Wrexham University staff, include:
-
A mindfulness and menopause talk from Vic Graham, Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing and Mindfulness Champion;
-
Menopause: What is it? Dealing with it, Common Symptoms, and Helpful Tips – a talk by Lisa Scully, Menopause Champion;
-
Relax, unwind, and let Karen Tilby guide you through a calming yoga session.
The workshop is running at the Nova in Prestatyn and costs £5 per person to attend, which includes refreshments. Buy your tickets here.
Dr Chelsea Batty, Principal Lecturer for Sport, who has organised the event, said: “We are thrilled to be running this session, in partnership with Denbighshire Leisure, which aims to support and empower those experiencing menopause.
“Vic, Lisa and Karen are all Menopause Champions at the university and are very much experts, so I have no doubt this will be a useful afternoon for those who come along.
“As a university through our Civic Mission, we relish in working with partners within our local community to make a positive difference for the good of North Wales – this is just one example of that, and we hope to deliver more sessions like this in the future.”
Lisa Scully, Licenced Menopause Champion at Menopause Experts Group and Civic Mission Project Manager at Wrexham University, added: “My mission is to demystify menopause, providing support, guidance, and evidence-based information to individuals experiencing this phase of life.
“I do this through delivery of training and coaching in and outside of workplaces.
"I co-host two free of charge, community-based groups that meet once per month, one in Mold and one in Coedpoeth, as I believe that safe and friendly spaces providing education about menopause should be available to all.
“Working with colleagues at the university to deliver this workshop in Prestatyn is extremely exciting as we each bring different skills and knowledge that will seek to empower those attending to navigate their menopause journey with confidence.”
