A STORE in Llandudno providing “100 per cent natural treats for dogs” has opened.

UTA Kennels welcomed customers for the first time to its premises, at 21 Lloyd Street, on Saturday, May 25.

It follows a successful first year of business for its other shop, in Kinmel Bay.

As well as selling dog treats, supplements and accessories, the store is aiming to have a “self-service wash and go” area open by the end of June, and a dog grooming room up and running by August.

Owner Mark Patterson said: “UTA stands for ‘understand the animal’. We specialise in a natural raw diet for dogs.

“We’ve got more than 200 treats for dogs which are all 100 per cent natural – raw feeding and nothing processed; that’s what we promote.

“We sell food supplements, which have huge benefits for dogs, too, and which are all 100 per cent natural, and we’ve got a small amount of dog accessories, such as leads and bowls.”

Mark said he was keen to expand his business after finding that many customers at the Kinmel Bay store were based in Llandudno themselves.

As a result, he said, he spotted a “gap in the market”.

He added: “The first week’s gone well. We had a lot of customers in Kinmel Bay, who said they’d love a shop like that in Llandudno, so we’d been looking to open here for about four month.

“This shop came along, and it needed a lot of work, but we just decided to go for it. A lot of customers have said they’re so glad it’s come to the town.”
