A SECTION of a coastal path in Kinmel Bay will be closed for site investigation work next week.

From Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 7 between 8am and 5pm, the path outside Golden Sands Caravan Park, on Foryd Road, will be shut.

Conwy County Borough Council has said this is in preparation for the coastal defence works in Kinmel Bay, which are scheduled to start in September.

Kinmel Bay flooding – the timeframe for new coastal defence works

The caravan park has allowed a diversion through its site while the path is closed.

Cyclists are asked to dismount and push their bikes along the 200m diversion.

Kinmel Bay’s planned coastal defence works should reduce flooding risks to more than 2,400 homes, and is expected to be completed in late 2025 or 2026.

The coastal defences work in Kinmel Bay will include improved rock armour defences, the raising of sea walls and improved beach access.

Conwy County Borough Council is also planning new parklets, street furniture, a toilet block, car park upgrades, and ecological enhancements.

Work is expected to be completed by winter of 2025 or 2026.
