1. Shopper ‘shaken up’ after seagull attack at Rhyl supermarket
The most read story this week was *checks notes* about a man who fought off a seagull that tried to steal his block of cheese outside a supermarket in Rhyl.
Frank Jordan had completed his shop at the Sainsbury’s superstore on Rhyl Road when, as he left the premises, a seagull swept down and tried to steal his block of cheese.

2. Rhyl teenager robbed of her pasty by seagull in town centre
You were loving the seagull stories this week, in this one a teenager in Rhyl captured the moment her pasty was stolen by a seagull on camera.
Lily Fiveash, 15, was on her walk to work having just bought a pasty, her usual routine on the commute.
As she took her first bite, a seagull snatched the pasty – but not before Lily could get photo evidence of the robbery, with her and the seagull sharing the pasty for a brief moment.

3. Coastguard called to deceased 'whale' on Rhyl beach
We reported how rescuers were called to investigate a deceased 'whale' discovered on the beach in Rhyl.
Upon arrival, the coastguard team located a dead harbour porpoise on the beach in the area of the Sky Tower.
In a statement, Rhyl Coastguard Team said: "Following the recent strong winds, high tides and rough seas, it is not unusual for a wide range of unusual things to be washed up and dumped on our beaches. These items can range from general rubbish through to historical ordnance being uncovered or deceased royal fish being left by the ebbing tide."

4. 'Up a Yard' Jamaican eatery to open second branch in Prestatyn
Our stories celebrating new and existing local businesses are always popular.
A successful Jamaican restaurant owner has confirmed a new branch will be opening very soon in the former Lola's bar in Prestatyn.
Owner of the award-winning Jamaican restaurant 'Up a Yard', situated in Holywell, has confirmed a new 'late-night' branch will soon be opening in the town.
Charlotte Stanley followed her dream of opening an authentic and Jamaican-inspired restaurant in Flintshire and is now taking the project to a whole new level.

5. Rhyl-based builders merchants in 'exciting' job expansion
A builders' merchants business based in Rhyl secured a partnership with an off-road vehicle company, as the company continues to expand.
Thorncliffe, a family-run building supply company with more than 36 years of business, has joined Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP)’s Can-Am off-road dealer network.
The addition of the Can-Am brand to the Thorncliffe’s portfolio will result in an expansion to its workforce, with the addition of two new sales staff and one technician with more employees scheduled to join in 2024.
