A STAR of the screen from North Wales is set to feature in a new BBC comedy series.

Sian Gibson, from Mold, is best known for her collaboration with comedian Peter Kay in BAFTA Award winning series, Car Share.

A former member of the Theatr Clwyd youth theatre, Sian is now set to return to our screens via a new BBC series.

'Mammoth' will air at 10pm on BBC Two on Wednesday (April 17).

The three-part series will tell the story of PE teacher Tony Mammoth (Mike Bubbins), who is back from the dead.

In 1979, Tony was a carefree bachelor and generally living la vida loca. Right up until an avalanche on a school ski trip swept him away to what was surely his untimely death. Except Mammoth didn’t die...

The BBC Synopsis adds: "In 2024 Mammoth is miraculously found and brought back to life, a perfectly preserved middle-aged man.

"The world is his oyster, but Mammoth never really liked oysters, he's more of a pint and a packet of crisps sort of bloke. So all that Mammoth wants is his old life back; the same job, the same car, the same friends. Things can’t have changed THAT much since the 70s, surely?"

It continues: "When Mammoth meets Mel, the pair don’t see eye to eye. She’s the mother of one of his pupils (played by Joel Davison). But little do they know they have a lot more in common than they think…."

Mold actor Sian stars as Mel in the series, while Joseph Marcell - aka Fresh Prince of Bel-Air legend Geoffrey Butler - also features.

Also among the cast are William Thomas (Gavin and Stacey/Twin Town) and Mali Ann Rees (The Pact).
