PARKING permits have risen in cost in Denbighshire as of yesterday (April 2).

A parking permit is a badge or certificate given to motorists who are allowed to park in certain areas.

Denbighshire County Council has now increased the cost of permits by up to £20.

These are split into long-stay, beach, on-street, or miscellaneous parking permits.

You can find the new prices below:

Long-stay permits

  • 3 months - £50 (was £35)
  • 6 months - £80 (was £60)
  • 12 months - £140 (was £120)
  • Reduced rate - £80 (was £65)

Beach permits

  • Full rate - £80 (was £65)
  • Reduced rate - £50 (was £35)

On-street permits

  • Resident - £35 (was £25.54)
  • Visitor - £6 (was £5)

Miscellaneous

  • Replacement of permit - £5 (was £5)

Permit can save residents money if they regularly use the council’s long-stay or beach car parks in Denbighshire.

Long-stay and beach car parks in Denbighshire can be found in Corwen, Denbigh, Llangollen, Prestatyn, Rhyl, Rhuddlan, Ruthin and St Asaph.

The council last month also increased charges at all of its car parks, as well as introducing fees at Marine Lake and Rhyl Harbour.

A spokesperson for Denbighshire County Council said: “Parking permits offer significant savings for motorists who regularly park in our pay and display car parks.

"For example, a 12-month long stay permit costs £140 which equates to less than £3 a week.

"People aged 60 or over can purchase a long -stay permit for the reduced cost of £80. We also offer permits for durations of three months and six months.

"Whilst we have had to increase our permit costs, our permits still offer excellent value and are significantly cheaper than those offered in other areas.”
