1. Rhyl's Marine Lake ‘empty’ as new parking charges take effect
This week, a regular visitor to Marine Lake in Rhyl said he had “never seen it empty like this” when he was at the site following the introduction of parking charges.
Car parks at both Marine Lake and Rhyl Harbour began operating with a pay and display system from March 22.

2. Rhyl chippy to celebrate 50 years of business by giving away free bags of chips!
This fish and chip shop based in Rhyl is celebrating 50 years in business – and gave away tasty treats to mark the milestone.
The Hungry Tum, on Sydenham Avenue, has been a favourite chippy among residents and visitors in the town since its launch in 1974.
With its busy takeaway counter and plenty of indoor seating, it has weathered the economic storms through the years, and owner Greg Sheehan is proud that the shop continues to thrive.

3. Rhyl teenager celebrates starting beauty business in town centre
A teenager in Rhyl has launched her own beauty business at a premises in the town centre.
Kacey-Paige Gorry, 19, has opened Beauty Base, at 10a Market Street.
She is renting space at the property from Rebecca Powell, who opened Esme’s Empire of Aesthetics there at the same time.

4. Towyn nightclub which had licence suspended under new management
A sports bar and nightclub in Towyn which re-opened last April is under new management.
Bentley’s Sports Bar and Nightclub, on Towyn Road, is to be run by Stephen Jones, formerly of Lola’s Bar in Prestatyn, which closed for good earlier this year.
He is known both as a DJ and as a drag artist, the latter under the name “Steph”.

5. Scrapping of blue wheelie bin in Denbighshire labelled ‘a disaster'
The decision to scrap the blue wheelie bin in Denbighshire was labelled an “absolute disaster and a squandering of money” this week by a former county councillor.
In February, Denbighshire County Council shared its plans to introduce a new recycling system on June 3, when residents will be required to separate their “dry” recycling using a new three-tier trolleybox.
These will be delivered to households before the end of May.
