A FISH and chip shop based in Rhyl is celebrating 50 years in business – and will giving away tasty treats to mark the milestone.
The Hungry Tum, on Sydenham Avenue, has been a favourite chippy among residents and visitors in the town since its launch in 1974.
With its busy takeaway counter and plenty of indoor seating, it has weathered the economic storms through the years, and owner Greg Sheehan is proud that the shop continues to thrive.

To mark half a century of business, Greg is giving every customer who visits the shop in the first two weeks from Good Friday a voucher for a free bag of chips.
The chippy opens for its summer season on Good Friday; for many years, the shop enjoyed a busy location next to the town’s funfair, but the site was sold to developers in 2007.
It has also managed to survive the 2008 economic recession, the COVID-19 pandemic, Brexit, and the cost of living crisis.
Greg said: “We are a traditional fish and chip shop and are proud to serve the people of Rhyl with good quality family favourites at affordable prices.
“Our chip shop, and indeed the town of Rhyl, has seen some enormous changes over the last 50 years.
“The world was very different back in 1974, but we are so proud to still be here, and I am willing to bet that good old fashioned fish and chips will still be a firm favourite in another 50 years’ time.”
