IT WILL soon cost £7.50 to park for more than four hours on Colwyn Bay promenade between May and September.
From May 29 2024, parking charges will increase on the prom by a £1 during the peak season.
Up to four hours will see drivers pay £5.50 for up to four hours (previously £4.50) and for more than four hours, it will cost motorists £7.50 (instead of £6.50).
During October and April, up to two hours will cost £2.40 (instead of £2), £3.80 for up to four hours (instead of £3.20) and more than four hours will see a charge of £5.40 (instead of £4.50).
Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Cabinet Member for Environment, Roads and Facilities – Infrastructure at Conwy County Borough Council, said: “Following the disappointing settlement from Welsh Government, we’re doing everything we can to protect vital services in Conwy County. This means every council service has to balance its budget, which includes increasing revenue as well as cutting back spending on non-essential services. There are difficult choices for us to make, such as increasing parking fees.
“On Colwyn Bay promenade, parking charges only apply between 10am and 4pm, and there’s no charge for blue badge holders in designated disabled bays.
"There are different tariffs for low season and high season to reflect demand for parking at this location.
"We’d also like to let local residents know they can purchase an annual pass for £95, which works out at 26p a day.”
It previously cost £79 for a permit. The fee has gone up by £16.
