A MAN from Rhuddlan has been handed a community order after he harassed his ex-partner following the end of their relationship.

Thomas Dawkin, 34, of Maes Helyd, was ordered to compete 140 hours’ unpaid work within the next 12 months at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court today (March 13).

He admitted a charge of harassment during today’s hearing.

The court heard that Dawkin had been in a relationship with Rachael Bramhall for about eight to nine months until she ended it.

After it ended, Dawkin was said to have sent her “a large number of messages” which, though “not threatening” in nature, the quantity of them distressed Ms Bramhall.

She repeatedly told him to “leave her alone” but, after he attended her address on February 27 by agreement to collect his belongings, he then “lingered outside” the property.

Dawkin also made numerous requests to her for small sums of money via PayPal.

He was arrested, before being released on bail, but continued to make contact with Ms Bramhall after this.

A man with no previous convictions, with a job as an Amazon delivery driver, the court heard that it is “quite obvious” that Dawkin has “very much struggled with the breakup”.

Sentencing, District Judge Gwyn Jones also handed Dawkin a five-year restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting Ms Bramhall or entering any property occupied by her.

This, he said, was a “necessary” and “proportionate” order to make.

Dawkin will also pay a £114 surcharge, and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
