Barton has been accused of sexism and misogyny after remarks about women outside football, often using stereotypes, and had recently said on a podcast that women were "taking away opportunities" from men in the sport.
Who does this prick actually think he is? “They’re taking opportunities away” no mate women are finally being allowed opportunity! Women are doing better than him & he doesn’t like it. That’s his problem. Absolute muppet 🤬 pic.twitter.com/UPDHEkXQLJ

After gaining a lot of support for her tweet, Barton then replied to Bancroft calling her "deluded" and saying she should "get the kettle on".
