DYSERTH rocker Mike Peters is back on form after a turbulent and frightening 17 months.

The frontman of The Alarm relapsed and was hospitalised in September 2022 following an acclaimed national tour with his band [Mike was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in 2005].

The singer stopped responding to his medication and had to undergo a new gruelling treatment plan.

On Monday, March 4, the Peters family had the news they had been longing for after Mike went for a check up with his doctor.

Jules, Mike's wife said: "This was the 'big big' check up and I’m delighted to report that Dr Heartin has confirmed a perfect set of bloods for Mike which is quite incredible, considering the state of play this time two years ago.

"We have a lot to be grateful for as Dr Heartin and his team at the North Wales Cancer Hospital have literally rebuilt Mike from his state of relapse after contracting pneumonia at the end of the British Tour 2022.

"A new regime of chemotherapy and monthly Immunoglobulin therapy has literally burst new life into him.

"I remembering sitting at the end of his hospital bed in the Autumn of 2022 searching for reassurance from his medical team but they were unable to do so. It was a very frightening time and all about taking one day at a time.

"Mike seems in better voice than ever before, full of breath and vitality.

"Here he is poised to take the stage just over a week ago in Dallas and now we are preparing for our USA Summer tour."

Last year in September 2023, a year-on from his relapse, Mike said: "Cancer has been part of my world for a long time. In 1995 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and thankfully went into spontaneous remission. Since 2006 I’ve been living well with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia thanks to the fantastic care I’ve received from NHS teams in North Wales. In 2016 my wife, Jules, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Jules and I have always focused on the positives when dealt with these devastating diagnoses, and during the treatment we’ve received and the relapses we’ve faced over the past 28 years, but 2022 tested our resolve unlike any other."

Jules is urging everyone to 'check themselves'.

"Go to the doctors if you have any concerns," she said.

"Don’t be afraid of facing up to things because Mike is living proof that times, things can only get better."
