A BAR in Prestatyn has confirmed its sudden closure after nearly three years of business.
Lola’s Bar, at 151 High Street, has shut following what its co-owner described as a “very tough year for the night-time sector” in 2023.
It opened for the first time in mid-2021, and hosted such entertainment as comedy, live music and drag performances.

'Contemporary bilingual gig' in Prestatyn cancelled at day's notice
Ben Pritchard, who co-owned Lola’s Bar, said: “Due to trading conditions and our lease being up, we have decided to cease trading.
“With the forecast of trade in the area declining, and the impact we have with the cost of living crisis, we have found a dramatic decline in trade in the area.
“With business rates going up in the next financial year, and the lack of government support for small businesses within the hospitality sector, we have felt that the trading conditions won’t be worth the time and investment over the next year.
“Last year was a very tough year for the night-time sector, and we have found customers have declined.
“We are happy that we have had a great venue in Prestatyn, and hope that someone takes it on to keep the night-time sector going in our lovely town.”
Lola’s Bar was meant to be hosting at “contemporary bilingual gig” tonight (March 1) to mark St David’s Day, but this was cancelled yesterday.
