A MAN from Dyserth was crowned “wedding DJ of the year” at an awards ceremony in Cardiff this week.
Dan Porter, 32, was one of the winners at the 2024 Welsh Wedding Awards, held at the Hilton Cardiff hotel on Wednesday (February 7).
Having been DJing since the age of nine, Dan has his own business, DJP Discos, and works across North Wales and beyond.

He was nominated for the award by couples who had hired him for their weddings, before a judging panel named him as the overall winner at Wednesday’s event.
Dan, who attended the event with his wife, was delighted to win the first award of his career.
“It’s still not really sunk in,” he said.
“There were well over 100 people there, and we had a nice three-course meal. The evening was fantastic; it was such a good night.”
Dan was presented with a trophy and certificate at the ceremony, and was sat on the same table as fellow North Wales vendors; Wigfair Hall (St Asaph), which won “local exhibition of the year”, and Skellon Events & Productions (Wrexham).
He added: “I wasn’t expecting it; it’s all a bit of a whirlwind.
“It’s just nice to have recognition from the couples who took the time to vote for me.
“It’s a big honour for me to be involved in their day, so for them to go and nominate me for an award, as well, is a bit crazy.”
