A POPULAR pub in Rhyl’s town centre has re-opened today (February 7) with a new look.
The Cob and Pen, at 143 High Street, had been closed for roughly two weeks while it was “brightened up”.
It welcomed back customers for the first time since then at 12pm today.

‘Best pub in Rhyl’ is taken over by new management
Shaun Ketley, who celebrates a year as the pub’s owner on February 27, said his aim is for the pub to appeal to all ages.
He said: “We’ve been shut for about 15 days while it’s had a full decoration - new carpets, new bar, everything. My partner, Kayley, has helped me massively with it all.
“I listened to what everybody wanted, and it just came down to it needing an uplift and to be brightened up, so that’s what I’ve done.
“We’ve turned a nice tidy little profit in the last year, more than what I expected.
“I’m happy in that sense, but I just knew that the pub needed a new lease of life breathing into it.
“We’re not a brewery pub; this is my own pub, paid for by myself, and all of the work, except for a couple of joiners, has been done by ourselves.”
Shaun, who has been running pubs for the last 15 years, described The Cob and Pen as “the best pub in Rhyl” when he first took it over last February.
It was previously owned by Noel Clements and his wife, Amanda, who ran the pub for roughly eight years.
The pub, a three-storey building with a beer garden and which overlooks Rhyl’s bus and train stations, had been put on the market with Sidney Phillips for £460,000 (freehold).
