HOPES that Adventure Parc Snowdonia could one day be 'repurposed' or be re-launched seem to be coming true.

In September 2023, the sun set on Adventure Parc Snowdonia in Dolgarrog. The £12 million 40-acre site, which boasted the world’s first inland surf lagoon, closed with immediate effect on September 1.

This was due to technical difficulties with the wave pool which caused staff a "fortune in downtime, repairs and loss of business."

The Adventure Parc Snowdonia website still states that it is "closed" and "hopes to be back with a new and reimagined experience from 2024 onwards."

Now Zip World has revealed its plans to launch an exciting new indoor activity centre and accommodation at the site. Opening on March 22, in time for the Easter 2024 holidays, the experience will feature more 30 camping pods and indoor experiences including an Adrenaline Indoors assault course, Altitude Climber climbing walls, Elevation Indoors high ropes, and Adrenaline Drop tower.

The site will also have a soft play area for younger children and an onsite café offering a range of food and drinks.

Zip World Conwy will expand the brand’s portfolio of sites to seven across England and Wales.

Andrew Hudson, Zip World CEO, said: “We are excited to unveil Zip World Conwy as our newest adventure location, and in turn help to revive the attractions at the former Adventure Parc Snowdonia site and bring further investment to the North Wales economy.

“While we have ambitions and exciting plans to continue our growth across the UK and beyond, North Wales will always be our home and we’re proud to contribute to the local Conwy economy and wider Welsh tourism sector.

“This venture reflects our ongoing commitment to pushing boundaries, creating unforgettable experiences for families and thrill seekers, and establishing Zip World as a global leader in adventure tourism.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming our first visitors this Easter.”

Adventure Parc Snowdonia posted online on September 1 2023: "It's with a heavy heart that we announce the immediate closure of our parc. To all who've been part of this journey, we're truly sorry.

"We are bitterly disappointed that once again excellent employees are being made redundant. The sad reality is that despite the joy and adventure our waves brought to many as a world-first innovation, the machine has cost us a fortune in downtime, repairs and loss of business. More importantly it has cost us a loss of reputation with our employees, people we’ve worked closely with since the start of this journey in 2015."
