A “WET and wild weekender” which was due to be held at Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park in July has been cancelled after the Pontins site closed and the organisers were unable to find a new venue.
Tidy Trax, the Leeds-based record label behind the Tidyland Weekender, said the closure of the holiday park on November 30, 2023 came “without prior warning or apology”.
Despite trying to relocate the event, which had been scheduled for July 5-7, Tidy Trax has had to put off the weekender until 2025.
The actions of Britannia Hotels, the company which owns Pontins’ holiday parks, have caused “substantial financial losses” for Tidy Trax, the record label said.

Extracts from a Tidy Trax statement read: “On November 30, 2023, we were unexpectedly informed by Britannia Hotels, the owners of the Pontins Prestatyn Sands holiday camp, that the site was closing immediately.
“Consequently, our planned Tidyland Weekender event, despite being contracted and fully paid for, could no longer proceed at this venue.
“Regrettably, this notification came without prior warning or apology, despite our 22-year partnership with the company.
“Simultaneously, we exhaustively explored every other holiday camp option in the UK.
“Our goal was to relocate the Tidyland event without changing the original dates, mindful of the arrangements many of our fans had already made.
“Unfortunately, despite identifying two exciting new venues that promise to elevate the Tidy Weekender experience, we were unable to secure these dates.
“Therefore, with regret, we must announce the postponement of the Tidyland Weekender event in 2024, with us looking to a rescheduled date in 2025.
“We are currently finalizing the details with our new partners and will share the confirmed venue and date as soon as possible.
“This situation has significantly impacted Tidy, resulting in substantial financial losses due to the actions of Britannia Hotels.”
Prestatyn Sands was built in 1971, and was also known as the location for the shooting of the 1973 film, Holiday on the Buses.
Staff told the Journal that they learnt of the park’s closure on Facebook, and that Britannia then told them that it shut due to financial difficulties.
Britannia Hotels has been approached for comment.
