A SERVING prisoner from Prestatyn has received an extension to his jail term after repeatedly sending threatening messages to another man.

Connor Tabner, 22, of Grovesnor Road, was sentenced to a further eight weeks’ imprisonment at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court today (January 10).

Tabner, who was jailed for one year in September 2023 for multiple assaults, admitted the charge of sending a threatening message during today’s hearing.

The court heard that, at about 6am on June 21, 2023, the victim woke to find 20 missed calls and 47 Facebook and Snapchat messages sent to him by Tabner.

The man, who had known Tabner since he was about 16 years old, described the messages as being of a “threatening nature”.

They were said to include threats to punch, stab and wound him, as well as break his windows and kill his dogs.

Gary Harvey, defending Tabner, said there had been a previous exchange of messages between the Tabner, the victim, and another male regarding an ex-partner of the defendant, which included “not particularly pleasant” messages from all parties.

Indeed, Mr Harvey said there was an “element of provocation” about Tabner’s actions.

Tabner, who previously served in the Armed Forces, was said to struggle with alcoholism and post-traumatic stress disorder., and is “genuinely sorry” for his behaviour.

“He knows he shouldn’t drink to excess and then get onto Facebook and speak to people, or phone them up,” Mr Harvey said.

“There wasn’t as much malice in there as appears.”

Magistrates told Tabner that “custody is our own option”, but refrained from issuing him with compensation or court costs.

Tabner will pay a £154 statutory surcharge upon his release from prison.
