Popular Rhyl pub re-opens after new owners are found

The Swan Inn, on Russell Road, re-opened in early December under new landlord and landlady Daniel Smith and Claire Ormrod.

It had been made available by estate agents Sidney Phillips on a freehold basis, with a guide price of £170,000, after previous owner Rachel Wright closed the pub in October 2022.

Birmingham-based Valiant Pub Company then completed the purchase of the property in early August for an undisclosed fee, Sidney Phillips told the Journal.

One of Rhyl’s oldest pubs, it is situated just off the town centre, and has returned with a new look following a revamp.

The Swan Inn said in a statement: “(We) would just like to offer our warmest thanks to everyone that has supported us in taking over the pub.

“As you have all seen, it’s been a hectic few weeks; a few feet-stamps here and there, but it’s been amazing to meet you all and start to get to know you.

“We can’t thank the amazing staff that have stayed on to work with us, John and Jenna, for all your patience and laughs we have had.

“We have lots of things planned and lots of exciting stuff to bring to you, so watch this space.”

Open from 10am every day, The Swan Inn is also offering 10 per cent off all drinks until January 25.

The property also features a dining area, five bedrooms, an enclosed external patio/garden, and a separate shop premises available in addition to the pub.

Valiant Pub Company was founded in December 2021 by Gerry Carroll and Mark McGinty, both of whom have built and operated successful pub companies in the past.
