LIFESAVERS have undertaken their first tasking of 2024.

On Sunday, January 7, Rhyl Lifeboat volunteers raced to the rescue of two adults and a child trapped on a sandbank.

A spokesperson for Rhyl RNLI said: "RNLI Rhyl undertook their first tasking of the year at 4pm on Sunday, January 7 to rescue three persons trapped on a sandbank due to the incoming tide off the boathouse.

"The casualties were taken on board the inshore lifeboat and returned safely to the station by 4.08pm."

Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team were also alerted.

A spokesperson said: "Team alerted and tasked to persons at risk of tidal cut off.

"With the assistance of RNLI Rhyl, the persons were safely evacuated from the quickly disappearing sand bank to the safety of the promenade."

  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear
  • Carry a mobile phone in case you need to request assistance
  • Tell someone where you are going and how long you intend to be (update them if your plans change).
  • If walking at the waters edge be mindful of the tide sneaking around behind you. You don't want to be left cut off.
  • In a coastal emergency, dial 999 and request the Coastguard
