AN AWARD-winning volunteer run day care centre based in St Asaph raised an incredible £9,000 to go towards their services.
Gofal Dydd y Waen Day Care, which runs twice a week, and supports people from Denbighshire and rural areas of Conwy, raised the impressive amount during its Christmas Market.
Mari Lloyd Williams, volunteer secretary and co-ordinator for Gofal Dydd y Waen, said: "As well as providing day care twice weekly to adults of all ages living with serious illness, the centre also provides chiropody, music therapy and complementary therapies to those attending and welcomes people from the community who are unwell to also receive these services. Everything is provided free of charge and over £40,000 is needed each year to remain open and we rely completely on donations."
A few days before the Christmas Market, the centre heard they had been awarded the prestigious King's Award for Voluntary Service - the first volunteer group from the area to win the King's award.
Mari added: "The centre joins another well loved organisation, St Kentigern Hospice, who won the previous Queen's Award for Voluntary Service a few years ago."
Volunteers are planning their fundraising events for 2024.
