St Asaph pupil wins Christmas card contest run by MP

Hannah Hazel, who attends the St Asaph school, is the winner of Dr James Davies's Christmas card contest. 

Hannah's design features a large bauble, inside of which are classic Christmas items including a tree, stocking, candy cane, snow and star. It also features a Christmas greeting in both English and Welsh.

There were more than 700 entries for the competition from nine schools and Dr Davies, MP for Vale of Clwyd, and his office staff were tasked with the difficult job of choosing an overall winner.

Dr Davies said: “Each year, the talent of our young people here in the Vale of Clwyd never fails to impress me.

“Receiving all the colourful and creative entries at this exceptionally busy time of the year in the office, really does get us in the festive mood.

“It is always difficult though choosing an overall winner, but we all felt that Hannah’s design stood out from the rest. It really depicts what Christmas is all about.

“I was pleased to meet Hannah at Ysgol Esgob Morgan on Monday to congratulate her and thank her for putting together such a wonderful design. I am confident that all the 4,000 recipients of my card this year will enjoy her artistic creativity. The design has already been shared with the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and the Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle, who signed the card for Hannah.”
