A WOMAN who runs a barber shop in Rhyl has offered homeless children living in temporary accommodation in the town free haircuts in the lead-up to Christmas.
Nicola Manda, owner of Nics Barbers on Vale Road, said that learning that there are children in Rhyl without a home of their own “pulled at my heartstrings”.
With the help of Rhyl-based Perham Prints, a card has been designed to entitle children to free haircuts.
These were passed on to fundraiser Richard Kendrick, and to Denbighshire County Council’s homelessness prevention team, for them to be distributed on to families.

Nicola is offering these free haircuts every Tuesday from today (November 28) until December 19, between 9am and 5pm.
She said: “I’m a single parent running a small business, but I’m not complaining because there are people far worse off than me. Some people haven’t even got a roof over their head.
“As soon as I found out that there are children in Rhyl who are homeless, it pulled at my heartstrings. I just think that must be awful, and it’s not the children’s fault.
“The least I could do, I thought, was go in to work on my day off (Tuesday) make a fuss of them, freshen them up, and make them feel ‘normal’, basically.
“Some of them might not have even had a haircut before… I’ve already had people messaging me asking how they go about getting the cards.”
Last week, the SeaQuarium attraction in Rhyl also distributed 150 free tickets for homeless and underprivileged families to enjoy, prior to its permanent closure on November 27.
