PRESTATYN has celebrated the start of its first "Winter Fest", following the switching on of the town's Christmas lights.

The two-day "extravaganza" is based on the town's High Street today and tomorrow (November 25 and 26).

Included at Winter Fest are Santa’s grotto (at "Now to Bed"), live music, festive food and drinks, craft stalls, a market, a small fairground, a lots of family fun.

The main events on each day take place between 10am and 4pm, with the aim of the event to “encourage shopping local”, shining a light on the town’s business owners and their services.

It has been organised by Prestatyn Town Council and Prestatyn Business Forum, and comes after the town's festive lights were turned on yesterday (November 24).

Hayley Morgan, owner of The Twisted Tree (based on High Street) and a member of the forum, told the Journal earlier this week: “The purpose of the event is to provide a weekend of festive fun for the whole family, whilst encouraging people to explore our wonderful town and high street.
